Ansel Adams
親族が “Ansel dear, the camera cannot express the human soul. Do not give up your music. And I would say, I don’t think the camera can, but the photographer could try.”
“I’d prefer to say that, if I feel something strongly, I would make a photograph that will be the equivalent of what I saw and felt. It’s just interesting how you could think of a standard color photograph of an automatic camera snap shot - of the blue ocean and the rocks and everything - and you would see something superficial and it will be colorful. But it might have no emotional meaning at all. If it had to be called scenery...quality, and scenery quality is very different from the natural scene.” “When I’m ready to make a photograph, I think I quite obviously see in my mind’s eyes something that’s not literally there. I’m interested in expressing something which is built up from with in...”
